Genus In the Community

Commitment to Social & Environmental Responsibility

Since its inception Genus has cultivated a strong commitment to the community and to socially and environmentally responsible practices. Genus hires on an equal opportunity basis, adheres to a code of values and expected behaviour, and focuses on conservation in all our practices.

Corporate Citizenship

Genus actively supports the principles of corporate citizenship and benchmarks for community investment established by Imagine Canada. Imagine is a national program to promote public and corporate giving, volunteering and support to the community.

We are recognized as an Imagine Caring Company, indicating that we are a good corporate citizen, investing money, time and ideas in the community.

We demonstrate corporate social responsibility in a number of ways, for example:

Sponsoring a scholarship program in conjunction with the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust to encourage local young people to pursue post-secondary education.

Supporting the endeavours of our foundation clients through low fees, donations and sponsorships.

► Qualifying fourteen times over as an Imagine Caring Company

Being a Proud Partner of the YWCA Women of Distinction dinner since 2001.

Being lead sponsor for the annual BCIT Donor Recognition Event, which celebrates well-deserving students and their active support in the community.

Supporting employees to volunteer at nonprofit and community organizations.

In addition, six of our senior professionals serve on the boards of non-profit or professional and business organizations.

Environmental Initiatives

Genus is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its operations and to being environmentally responsible.

As part of this effort, we offer sustainable and socially responsible investing options, and focus on recycling and conservation in all we do.

We offer clients paperless online access to their reports, and use email and electronic marketing tools to conserve paper and reduce waste.

GENUS EXPANDS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Genus has introduced a $20,000 scholarship program to benefit graduating students from the Alberta Metis Settlements and Carcross-Tagish First Nation in the Yukon.
